Our favorite shop, Flax Bush, is only a stones throw from the hotel. Flax Bush offers you a range of gifts, home wares, weaving and international flavoured objects. There is also jewellery made from greenstone and paua plus an extensive collection of shells.

Walk two doors down from the Old Oak to enjoy tasting the finest of the region's wines at the Far North Wine Centre. Featuring Manaia and Lava Rock wines among others, the wine centre is the perfect place to find a bottle of wine to bring back and enjoy at the Old Oak. All our rooms are stocked with wine glasses!

Golf
Doubtless Bay features two golf courses within a 15 minute drive of Mangonui – Whangaroa Golf Club and Carrington Resort Golf Course. Kaitaia (30 minute drive) is home to Ahipara Golf Club. Kauri Cliffs-Matauri Bay and Kerikeri Golf Club in Kerikeri are a 45 minute drive. The Old Oak has great access to the best of the courses in the Far North.
Fishing, Boating & Diving
Fishing in the Far North is one of the most popular of the outdoor activities and the area hosts numerous fishing charters. You can fish Doubtless Bay and Rangaunu Harbour on either side of the Karikari Peninsula and catch Schnapper, Tarakihi, Kahawai and many other species. Some of the most easily accessed dive and snorkelling sites exist in Doubtless Bay on the Karikari Peninsula. Home to numerous coral colonies, Doubtless Bay offers everything from walk-in beach dives to some of the most spectacular pinnacle dives in the world.
